That was what my fortune cookie told me anyway as my team and I ate rather late after a full on day of community meetings regarding Sizewell C. I had eight meetings and one today plus I plan another in the South next week.
It was particularly apt as most of the concerns expressed were on traffic and the desired option of building new roads - bypass and a new road (the old option D2). The second biggest issue was location of accommodation campus.
It is important that constituents contribute their thoughts on the options and also suggest new options. If EDF receives 3000 different options, that will not have the same impact as coalescing around one or two new options on each issue.

Therese,
I have just returned from a holiday in the USA and can’t help thinking we have construction wrong.
I can understand why some other parties would pursue some of these policies but if we can’t vote conservative to help produce a competitive UK then I fear the UK is truly on a downwards spiral. These concerns relate to 2 specific areas I noticed:
Global warming
Whilst in the US this was not mentioned once on TV or the radio, gas prices were $3.50 per gallon and electricity is produced from coal or gas. Why is the UK going alone in pursuing policies of expensive nuclear power, from a French provider, and even more expensive renewables? This is leading to huge increases in energy bills and helping the UK become expensive particularly for companies that consume large amounts of power. Yes I understand global warming is a serious issue but with the US and China not making these types of changes we are just a drop in the ocean of CO2 emissions. When are we going to adopt an approach that makes the UK competitive and not add costs other countries are avoiding? Lets keep out coal stations going a little longer and push the fracking & gas powered option.
Transportation
Our investment in roads has been woeful since the Margaret Thatcher era. I saw many large schemes to improve roads whist in the US…I can’t remember when I last saw one in the UK. Why are we investing so much in high speed rail that takes so many years to deliver when so few people will use it? Certainly no-one in Suffolk. We have pockets of Suffolk and Norfolk with incredibly bad infrastructure that hampers economic development in the area. This and other roads must be a more effective way to spend our money.
